For the first time ever an Irish athlete is competing in three world finals in the same day! Sixth year student Jordan Doran is currently fighting in the World Association of Kickboxing Organisations (WAKO) Championships. So far she has done brilliantly, and has managed to qualify for three world finals, all happening today. We want to wish her the very best of luck. Go Jordan!!

Congratulations to Adam Hanlon and Jill Brierty who received the prestigious award for the Schools Ambassador Programme for Cycle Against Suicide on behalf of the school. The School Food Company manage the student canteen at Oaklands. Their aim is to provide an alternative to junk food by offering freshly prepared hot lunches to students. They also promote the consumption of fruit and veg by providing free fruit. They even have educational videos, for which they buy YouTube views, to become more visible and do a better promotion.

Our Principal Mr Gerry Connolly, has congratulated all the students on the fantastic results obtained in the Leaving Certificate in an article on the Offaly Express.
“The results were exceptional with a significant number of students achieving over 550 points. More significantly, the number of students who achieved over 500 points in their Leaving Certificate reflected the great work done by the students and teachers,” he added.

Well done to Kacper Miniszewski and Stephen Molloy who represented Oaklands Community College at the Irish Chemistry Olympiad hosted in Dublin City University (DCU) on Saturday the 10th of March 2018. The Irish Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is a competition for Irish students in the final year of second level education. Students from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are invited to take part in the competition.They competed against 126 students from all over the country. It was a close competition. You did us proud!
