Art Craft and Design
The Art, Craft, Design syllabus provides opportunity for students to make fine art, craft and graphic design artefacts and to experience and learn to appreciate visual culture. The Junior Certificate Art, Craft, Design syllabus offers students of all abilities and aptitudes an opportunity to develop artistic skills along with reflection, analysis and evaluation abilities.
Problem-solving and decision-making are fundamental skills in this context. The subject builds on the student’s own interest in, and engagement with, visual culture and the built environment.
The making of artefacts and the study of art, craft, and design works provide opportunities for the student to become innovative and creative— important qualities in today’s society.
